Young Dracula DvdTrue Blood HBO, satellite TV: Not Your Average Vampire Show

It seems that nowadays you can not turn on your television or go to the movies without being inundated with another vampire show or movie. The beginning of the nineties saw the release of the cult series Buffy the Vampire cons, which was followed by a performance impact on the defunct WB network. Once the onetime popularity of the hit wore off, it seems that the vampire genre was in vogue. Only in recent years with the success of the epic Twilight series which he seemed to be a sudden resumption of entertainment featuring vampire. Any subscriber to satellite television can tell you that there is now a huge amount of entertainment available relating vampire. It is difficult to change channels without entering another show trying to ride the wave of success of Twilight. Most of these shows are poorly made and are simply trying to seduce an audience that has repeatedly proven to be a cash cow. There is an exception in this genus, however, and it is fair to say that it surpasses even in the Twilight vampire genre. most in fact, it surpasses show on television for entertainment, depth and cutting social commentary. HBO True Blood is basically Twilight for much, much more mature audience. In other words, this is not dramatic vampire of your little sister. While Twilight preaches a message of chastity often obvious, True Blood features scenes so graphic, they are shocking even for HBO.

True Blood takes place in modern times in Louisiana, amid a society where vampires have recently emerged from his hiding place and proved to the world. These, however, are not the vampire Dracula lore. They are nice and well dressed, living in houses with flat-screen HDTVs and driving expensive sports cars. They are also, however, often bloody and aggressive. creators of the series does not hold back when representing often horrific scenes of vampires sucking men dry and left for dead. It's gory and nervous, and frankly addictive.

Of course, it would not show it if there was no more than take up social commentary. Much of the exhibition shows the struggle between vampires and their supporters, and those who want them to be "back in the closet." This underlying tension is a unique way to depict the struggle for gay rights in the United States, and many in the gay community has latched onto the show as a champion of equality. There is also a veiled discussion of race occur and that the show takes place in the deep south, a place that is still haunted by hints of racism. Ultimately, vampires are almost all marginalized groups to find a legitimate place in society, and looking at this comment occurred against such a situation unusual is what makes the show so innovative.

If you have not had the chance to catch True Blood, from the first season and you're sure to get hooked. Simply enter the DVD, flip on your HDTV and get ready to be swept away.
