There are basically three types of blood cells in the human body. They are namely red blood cells (RBC), White Blood Cells (WBC) and platelets. These cells pass through the plasma in all parts of the body.

The body increases the production of white blood cells, according to the needs and level of infection in the body. However, the WBC count is much less compared to the number of red blood cells. The life of a WBC ranges from several days to several months. The body continues to produce a certain quantity of white blood cells.
The third type of blood cells and platelets is also known as thrombocytes. The cells are oval and are also produced in the bone marrow as red cells. Platelets are also known as hunters blood. In a case of rupture of a blood vessel, platelets gather at this time to stop the leak. Thus, platelets are important in the process of blood clotting.
