Vampire Weekend has several dates marked on their tour schedule this year. They should be on the road until mid-September where they will play two nights at Radio City Music Hall. Among other stops in New Orleans, Louisiana, Austin, Texas, Tempe, Arizona, and Indio, California, whose last will perform at the Coachella Music Festival this year. Then, the dance-pop group will pack their bags and go for a world tour, stopping in places like New Zealand, Australia, Norway, France, Spain and Portugal.
The buzz really started growing around Vampire Weekend in 2007, with a great tour and a forthcoming album, the City of New York was finally held on his way to musical stardom. And indeed, the stars were aligned. Their eponymous first album made an impressive debut on the Billboard chart, claiming a place in the Top 20 and win the praise of critics and fans. In fact, their first effort was so successful that they spent the next two years on the road to promote the registration of fans too excited. Some bands have used to be frustrating exactly the same live as they do in the studio. This is not the case for Vampire Weekend, whose live performances are always full of spunk and energy.
Although much of their time is spent traveling, the group does not hold back when it came time to fall back into the studio. Their most recent album, and one that has inflated the fans, is called Contra. It is difficult to nail a sophomore album when you're in the wake of a highly-praised debut, but Vampire Weekend away with another Contra winner that is equally charming - some might say - even a bit more elegant than their first release.
The album features new rides "Horchata", "White Sky", "Cousins" and "Son of a diplomat," among others. It's fun, fanciful and unique guitar riffs and bouncy pop music equipment, it makes you feel just a little antsier in anticipation that their third album might be like. Judging by their predecessors, it's a safe bet that once again Vampire Weekend will find gold ... and maybe even platinum. See run on stage in a city near you!
