What does an abnormal red blood count mean? How can I have a low blood count red (RBC), but a hemoglobin and hematocrit normal?
Hemoglobin must be measured at hematocrit (HCT), RBC, and RBC indices (MCV) to determine whether there is anemia (iron deficiency) and type of anemia. In your case, you can scratch your anemia problem.
Look for vitamin B6, B12 and / or folic acid deficiency (CVD should see a large) or maybe your a victim of condiction more chronic.
normocytic anemia may be caused by decreased production (eg, cancer and other causes of bone marrow failure), increased destruction (hemolytic anemia), or blood loss. The number of red blood cells is low, but the size and quantity of hemoglobin in the cells are normal.
When I first read the anemia popped into my mind, but normal hemoglobin made me do a search.
more .. it's just a possibility. you should talk to your doctor, they tend to know better.
Anemia = low hemoglobin
red blood cell count is the number of red blood cells.
Hematocrit is the proportion of red cells in the blood volume.
If you have lost blood, you red blood cell count may be low. Your hemoglobin may be normal, but below normal. Maybe it was raised to start if you're healthy.
