Normal Blood Pressure Age

Normal Blood Pressure AgeBlood pressure reading normal Expertise

So you want to know what your blood pressure reading is normal. The next time you visit the doctor, help you ask the nurse to tell you. After having finished putting the cuff on your arm, pumping it until you think your arm is going to explode, and then delivers a number ... 124/86. Well, that's fine, but what does that mean?

A blood pressure reading measures the heart's pumping action. The first issue is a reading of systolic pressure, or pressure from your heart to pump oxygenated blood into the aorta, the largest blood vessel in the body. This vessel branches off into other, smaller vessels that oxygenate every organ, tissue and cell of your body. The bottom number, diastolic pressure, reads your heart at rest or between beats.

blood pressure readings for healthy people are generally around120/80. Some people may have a variable number like 124/82 or 126/84 or higher. You still have your blood pressure even in number, but if someone does give you a reading with an odd number, just round it to keep things simple. Keep in mind that your age, level of exercise in weight and diet may also have much to do with a reading of blood pressure. Some people who exercise a lot and are in good health have a blood pressure hovering around 110 over 70, and it is normal for them. Same goes if the numbers are a little higher.

However, a normal blood pressure reading is a reading of blood pressure when these figures are close to 140/90 or so. There are several different types of levels to high blood pressure, or hypertension, so tell your doctor if your levels are above the 126/86 range.

It is difficult to identify a single cause of hypertension, all factors tend to coincide to produce the report. For some, hypertension is hereditary, and African-Americans suffer more from high blood pressure, or hypertension, than Caucasians. Medical issues can also cause increased blood pressure normal, then it's a good idea to have your blood pressure checked at least periodically. Nearly 65 million Americans suffer from hypertension, and countless others who have not been diagnosed with the condition are walking, without even realizing it.

With age, hypertension becomes more frequent. However, the preservation of a healthy weight, regular exercise and a balanced diet will help prevent high blood pressure. Stay away from excess salt, alcohol and a diet high in fat, and if you smoke, try to quit smoking. Studies have shown that certain drugs can cause hypertension, so tell your doctor about the risks if you take certain prescription drugs.

A normal blood pressure reading does not seem to be a big problem for many people, but as we age, it can mean the difference between a healthy and active life, or years later your sitting on the bench. Take an active part in health, heart health in particular, and your body, your family and friends, thank you.
