I'm wanting to know what causes low white blood cells? My daughter had a physical and they have blood. The doctor said she had a low blood count white 2500. she is 12 years old and with no symptoms at all. We will return to a repeat in one week. The doctor said everything was fine just the low number of white and were also low neutiphils 750. I am very worried and it makes me mad!
75% is not low for neutrophils. The total number is slightly low. This may occur with an infection of low grade. Some people run out. It does not seem a problem.
Perhaps a high red blood count????
A low neutrophil count may be due to a genetic disease, aplastic anemia, or a kind of leukemia. It may also be a side effect of medication, especially chemotherapy. A low white blood cell count could be due to infection, autoimmune diseases, certain medications, radiotherapy, and bone marrow disease such as leukemia. Your doctor will need additional testing to determine the exact cause of what can be.
There are many reasons why your blood has or demote a given day. A small number of white cells is serious because the white cells fight infection so it is encouraging that your doctor is on top of this command and more tests. Blood cells are produced in the bone marrow and leukemia, lupus, or viral infections would be real concerns. But before you panic, remember that the cells have a finite life, so if your daughter had an infection increase white cells to fight infection and there would be a natural decline, while the body produces more.
